Something I enjoy doing is creating one-of-a-kind pieces for my clients based on their needs. This past few week I’ve been working on some hand-painted ornaments for someone who’s giving them to friends and family as Christmas gifts. I can’t wait for her to see them!
Since I do a lot of wall décor for clients, I thought I’d offer you some tips on how to choose the right wall décor for your home.
Measure Your Space
The first thing you have to do when choosing your wall art is to take measurements. This way you know what will fit in the area and what to look for. Few things are sadder than finding a piece you love and realizing it won’t fit.
An oversized piece will look wonderful if you’re hanging it above your couch. If you have a small living room, don’t choose anything with a lot of busy patterns. This will help it look uncluttered.
Consider the Color Palette of the Room
This is the second thing you want to think about. This will define the type of artwork that will look greatest in your space.
One thing that you can do is mimic the colors that are already in your room. But if you’d rather make a bold statement, color wheels are a great way to find colors that complement each other, such as green and red or blue and orange.
Decide a Budget
Finally, you want to choose a budget and stick to it. The larger your budget, the more choices you’ll have. Is this an investment or is it simply something to beautify your home?
These are three tips that you can use to help you find the right wall décor for your home. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind piece for yourself or a gift for someone, contact me. I’ll be happy to talk to you and see what your needs are!
