So, earlier this week, we talked about keeping our dogs cool during the hot weather. Today, we’re going to give you some tips on keeping your cat cool when the weather is hot.
Use Ice
Cats are curious creatures. So, if you have hardwood floors, place some cubes on them and let them go nuts. Along with cooling down your cat’s paws, which is where your cats lose and absorb heat, the cubes will give them enrichment.
Provide shade
If your cats go outside, make sure that you give them plenty of shade. Things like shrubs and trees are the way to do this. It’s also a good idea to put their favorite bed in the shaded areas so that they stay cool.
Ice Packs & Cooling Mats
Placing an ice pack or cooling mat in the cat’s bed is a great way to help them stay cool. Make sure you put the mat or pack under their blanket, so it’s not directly against your feline friend.
Use Wet Towels
Cats don’t like getting wet. So, they won’t go swimming, or most of them won’t. So, dampen a towel with some cool water and then dab it on your kitty’s fur. This will help them get some relief.
Groom Your Cat
A lot of fur can trap heat in your cat. So it’s best to make sure that you’re always grooming your cat. This will remove the excess fur and make them more comfortable when the weather is hot.
Provide Plenty of Water
This is always important, but especially when the weather is hot. Keep fresh water around your house so that it’s always available.
